There were also several comic book series produced: Marvel Comics' version (currently owned by Warner Bros. It also aired on Cartoon Network as part of the Toonami block. Leisure Concepts which helped co-develop the show acted as a licensing agent for the series. had the rights to the series (and all Lorimar-Telepictures programming) from that point on. In 1989, Lorimar-Telepictures was purchased by and folded into Warner Bros., whose television syndication arm would eventually assume distribution of the show Warner Bros. The series was originally distributed by Rankin/Bass' then-parent company Telepictures Corporation, which would later merge with Lorimar Productions in 1986. Seasons 2, 3, and 4 each contained twenty episodes, starting with a five-part story. Season 1 of the show aired in 1985, consisting of 65 episodes in 1986. The studio was acquired in 1989 to form Walt Disney Animation Japan. The animation for the episodes was provided by the Japanese studio Pacific Animation Corporation, with Masaki Iizuka as production manager. ThunderCats is an science fantasy animated television series that was produced by Rankin/Bass Animated Entertainment and Leisure Concepts debuting in 1985, based on the characters created by Ted "Tobin" Wolf. The show can't make up it's mind who it's aimed at, jokes rubix the amazing cube would reject and awful awful awful animation a 5 year old on paint could do better.Pacific Animation Corporation (seasons 2–4) The jokes were awful and worse the animation was awful! A five year old could make better animation! Plus their faces morf into ugly mutant looking faces every second. She also looks like a guy! (Seen as one of the most beautiful females in cartoons and they made her look like a guy) snarf acted like a pet in what I saw, jagga went around saying "I'm a ghost! Boooo!" (ugh) and the kids acted like hyper kids. ![]() Panthro is cyborg from teen titans go! Really he acts just like him! Cheetara sounds like gwen from ben 10 and acts like her. Tygra is meg from family guy and is there to get annoyed by lion o and get beat up and have things fall on him. Lion was a dumb ditwit moron who screaming every second making ugly faces the full time! Looks like they wanted to do the "kid in adult body" as the joke but they didn't show him as a kid turning into a adult so if you never saw the 80s show (like kids today) you don't get the joke and he just comes across as a dimwit loser. What did I think of the new thundercats? First of all who was this aimed at? It is full of injokes making fun of the 80s show but kids never saw the 80s show so they won't get the jokes and 80s fans hate this show plus it's so kiddie dumb! So who is this show aimed at? They use music and effects from the 80s show also but it just comes across as cringy.Īnyways what did I think? I didn't even make through the first episode! Yes I had to turn it off BEFORE the episode ended it was so awful! Got to lion-o swinging around on a vine making monkey faces sticking his tongue out and yelling every second and could not stand it anymore. ![]() Took the hit and watched the first episode. The rest of these shows have some charm or personality to them but Roar just doesn't look pleasant. Thundercats Roar just.Looks unappealing, anyway. Those shows would fit the comparison better. Though in this image, I'd replace blatantly dissimilar styles (TTG, Unikitty, Mighty Magiswords, Gumball) and cherry picked examples (that apple thing, Gumball again, and I think Uncle Grandpa in the corner there) with examples from Gravity Falls, Amphibia, Star Vs., and We Bare Bears. Note, I am aware no one here actually said they all look the same. Is there similarity? Yeah, but none of them are any more copy/paste than the 80s cartoons were. It's a bit disingenuous to claim that there's little to no distinction in all of these art styles (not counting the ones from the same shows). I feel like Gumball is cheating, since that show was bursting with tons of clashing art and animation styles, but nonetheless. ![]() Click to expand.I think the point you were trying to make would work a bit better if you'd posted the other half of the image.
